Macaroons, grilled cheese and jeanie pants

What a Friday!  Nothing exciting just running around trying out the new camera lens with DH.  First of all I'm obviously not a professional photographer and I don't really have the patience with my DSLR camera.  I'm more of a point and shoot kind of a gal.  I wasn't happy with the lens that came with my camera so DH borrowed a lens from Borrowlenses.com.  He's ordered a couple of lenses with them before for our DSLR camera and it's a good idea considering most lenses are expensive so before shelling out $$$ why not try it out.  You can borrow their lenses for a couple of days to a month and they don't just have lenses they also have some DSLR cameras for rent.

Have you ever noticed how expensive macaroons are?  They are expensive and small but so are cupcakes.

But, I still eat them up.

Anthropologie cardigan and pants.

The pants poofs on the bottom that reminds me of Jeanie pants with drawstrings.

We had dinner/snack at The Melt.  A restaurant that specializes on grilled cheese accompanied by soup and chips.  Another overpriced place but DH wanted to try it.  We ordered The Parisian Brie/Apple Butter on White Wheat with Creamy Wild Mushroom soup.  It was pretty good and the apple butter made the sandwich a little sweet but for $9.00 plus a drink which came out close to $12. I'm better off next door at California Pizza Kitchen.

Have a great weekend.

James Perse Tank Dress: From Day to Night

I have to say that James Perse is truly expensive but the good news is you can find them for a fraction of the price at stores like Marshall's or Nordstrom Rack.  I would never pay over $100 on any of his items but I have to admit I do see why he has a following.  His items are really soft, comfortable and the silhouettes are simple but just add some accessories and it can transform from day to night.

Running errands

Turquoise and Leather choker from SF street vendor
Fendi purse
Sandals - Old

Going out for drinks with a friend

Vintage Lion head gold belt
Vintage magazine clutch
Black Onyx and gold earrings
Black Michael Kors open toed shoes

Stay tuned for my other James Perse finds.  One was under $30 and both designs hides my mid section pooch.

Tiny Florals

I am linking up with Marionberry Style today for her trend of the month challenge, florals.  For this challenge I realized that I don't have much florals.

I wanted to purchase the H&M black floral pants that's $14.95 but like most H&M items, on me they are not flattering and a little over priced for what they are.  One time I was trying on a shift dress without a zipper and it went on fine but taking it off was another story. The dress went up with my arms suddenly it felt like the dress shrunk down two sizes within my arms and shoulders.  I was struggling to get it off while sweating and on the verge of breaking down crying.  It felt like I had to dislocate my shoulder to finally be free.  It just seems that the cut was too boxy but without any room for the shoulders, if that makes any sense.  Anyhoo, I do have a couple of items from H&M but overall it's mostly misses than hits.

Anthropologie tank and skirt (old)

Vintage bracelet, belt and Japanese bamboo purse from Chicago Flea Market
Shoes are from Nordstrom Rack

Go check out other bloggers who linked up and get inspired.   Hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday.

Haagen-Dazs will make everything all right

I was having a bad day last week and when I got in my car to drive home the radio started playing Everything Gonna Be Alright by Bob Marley.  It can totally be a coincidence but I like to think that the universe and Bob Marley was trying to tell me not to fret, coz everything is gonna be alright.  So I sang along loudly in the car and drove straight to Costo to grab some Haagen-Dazs ice cream bar.

Once I got home I tore that box and the wrapper up and yes, Bob, everything IS gonna be all right.  What's your comfort food?

I'm not good at styling my hair (nor smiling in pictures), so braiding it is out of the question.  I wore my F21 necklace as a headband and put my hair up in a low bun.  The necklace is braided rope like material and it's a perfect color match with my dress.

This is the second time I've worn this dress.  Thanks to the lovely Two Birds sisters for reminding me that I have it.

We don't have cable.  We don't even have a regular antenna for the TV.  DH made a TV antenna using wire hangers from the dry cleaners.  He bolted them on a piece of wood and it's standing up on our window sill and at times when we don't get signal one of us has to get up and fidget with it to get a clear picture.  I mean we used to have cable but found ourselves with plenty of channels but nothing worth watching so we decided to cancel it.

We don't get ABC and there are shows on there I would like to watch such as Modern Family but to be honest everything is available on Netflix nowadays that I don't really mind just having four sometimes three channels.  We are caught up with Breaking Bad, Dexter and Weeds so I'm good.  I watched all the Mad Men episodes on my phone or iPad so I'm caught up with those and a friend of ours said he'll upload the new episodes for me to watch so I don't have to wait a year to find out what's going on with Don Draper.  Do you guys watch Mad Men?

Anyway, I was waiting for DH in the car  yesterday and stumbled across Hoarders on Netflix and now I can't seem to stop watching it.  Have you seen Hoarders?  Any thoughts?  I am a little freaked out, saddened and horrified at the same time.  I was so moved that I am starting my Spring cleaning today.

Hope you're having a fine Monday!

Life is a Bowl of Cherries

One of my favorite purses purchased at Anthropologie is this Lulu Guinness purse back in 2003?  You open the lid and in red stitching reads, Life is a Bowl of Cherries.  It's a little small compared to what I usually carry but I can fit all my necessities, my iPhone, keys and my credit card holder comfortably so it's just not cute it's also functional.

Anthropologie Cardi, necklace, belt, shorts and Lulu Guinness Purse for Anthropologie.
White V neck t shirt form F21.

Sorry for the blurry, dark pictures.  It's raining outside and not the best light.

These shorts have a buckle connected to the actual shorts but it's a little big so I added the belt and wore it backwards.

Hope to wear more shorts and skirts this weekend.  Finally Spring!

Flea market finds

I love flea markets.  Do you know what's the difference between flea markets vs. swap meets?  To me flea markets are vintage items and swap meets is where you can buy tube socks, tools anything that you can find at a 99 cents stores?

Anyway, my favorite flea market is the Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena that's held once a month, second Sunday of each month.  But it's harder to go there once I moved in the bay area so I always have to plan it in advance.  My favorite flea market here is an hour away, the Alameda flea market which is similar to Rose Bowl, which happens the first Sunday of the month.  A vendor told me that if you want to sell items at the Alameda it has to be 20 years or older which is considered vintage.  Then there are smaller flea markets that is also a swap meet like De Anza flea market held the first Saturday of the month at De Anza College.

A few months ago I've mentioned that I went crazy over leather pants and skirts which I still need to do a post on and now I'm going crazy over leather handbags.  I think they get better as they aged.  Still so buttery soft.  Both straps are detachable which is a plus.  I like having the option of carrying it as a clutch.

Vintage Coach Handbags.

Original Coach City Bag.  There's a scratch that is visible in the picture but the scratch didn't damage the leather, it just looks like a fold.  Inside and outside front pockets.
Flea market $25 vs. $278 Coach.com

I guess this is the original Coach Classic City Bag.  The straps are different than the new version.  The straps are also shorter than the City Bag and not adjustable, one inside zip pocket.  It has a pen mark inside the flap but I cleaned it with wet wipes and the pen park came off.
$35 vs. $278?

My handbag collection has dwindled in the past years.  At one point I had 120 in my collection mostly vintage but now I have a great mix.  Some of my favorites are the quirky ones which I'll share in a different posts.

There's a storm watch right now but by Sunday and next week it'll be in the 70's so I can't wait.  Hope you're weather is better than ours.  Have a great weekend!
